According to British parliamentarian Lord Karan Bilimoria, India’s economy would surpass that of the United States by 2060. He recently stated outside of the Investiture Ceremony of his alma mater Hyderabad Public School (HPS), Begumpet, that India has surpassed the United Kingdom and is now the fifth largest economy in the world.
“The whole world is looking up to India. India is now, without doubt, going to be one of the three superpowers in the world very shortly. Within 25 years, my prediction is India will have a GDP of 32 trillion dollars and would be the second largest economy in the world. I go one step further, I believe by 2060 India would be the largest economy in the world,” Bilimoria, Member of the Britain’s House of Lords, told the sources.
He expressed optimism that the free trade pact being discussed between India and the UK is “imminent”.
The UK legislator stated that trade between the two nations was growing very quickly and that it already exceeds 30 billion pounds annually.
“But, I still think that is scratching the surface. I think we could be doing multifold that.”
He added trips by large groups, including corporate executives, journalists, cabinet ministers, and university leaders, should resume after the successful trip to India by the UK parliamentary delegation he led in April of this year.
He added that a sizable delegation should travel to India under the direction of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
