Starbucks Employees Will Return to Work Three Days Per Week

Starbucks

Starbucks employees who live within commuting distance of the company’s headquarters in Seattle will be required to work from the office at least three days per week beginning Jan. 30, interim CEO Howard Schultz announced Wednesday.

Sodo’s headquarters employ approximately 3,750 people. In a letter to employees, Schultz stated that the policy will also apply to employees who live within commuting distance of regional offices.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be the designated days, with the remaining day up to individual teams.

In September, Starbucks implemented a model that required employees to return to the office one to two times per week, but many employees were “not meeting their minimum promise,” according to Schultz. He believes that in-person work is critical to the company’s success.

Schultz stated that the company is changing its policy due to culture, fairness, and the need to correct “the unintended consequences of conducting so much of our work virtually.”
