The rates of thousands of customers on some of the most affordable health insurance plans are going to climb significantly.
The insurers have not made the increases known to the public.
Families who renew on the same plan may have to pay up to €480 because VHI has raised the price of 12 of its business plans by up to 10%.
Laya has increased the rates on 14 corporate plans by up to 6 percent, costing households an additional €210 annually.
It happened soon after Irish Life Health hiked the prices on the majority of its plans after doing so twice the previous year.
As per health insurance broker Dermot Goode of TotalHealthCover, almost half a million clients are renewing their health coverage this month, and many VHI schemes are due for renewal in the following two weeks.that is.
The cost of renewing any plan has increased by 15–20 percent due to a series of rate increases that were announced in the last year.
For a family consisting of two adults and two children, this has increased the cost of renewing by anywhere from €150 to €550.
Renewals for the same plan have increased by €800 for some households.
For its 510,000 clients, Irish Life Health increased premiums by 4.8 percent at the beginning of this month.
It made announcements about hikes in the beginning of the previous year, with plans to increase in July and November as well.
The most recent Irish Life hike, along with two other hikes that were announced in the last 12 months, will result in a €600 annual increase for families on some Irish Life policies.
As of January 1, VHI has raised the price of twelve of its corporate plans. The increases on what it refers to as its corporate PMI (private medical insurance) plans are between two and ten percent.
Plans with the names PMI 2912, PMI 0511, and PMI 5010 will increase by 10%.
According to Mr. Goode, if a family consisting of two adults and two children continued on these plans, they would have to pay hikes ranging from €328 to €480.
