The Evolution of U.S. Legal Support
When describing the background of U.S. Legal Support, Jimmie shared that the company was established in 1996 with the intention of being the first nationwide, comprehensive litigation support provider. Its goal hasn’t changed in the last 30 years: to provide outstanding litigation support services to its legal industry partners and to establish long-lasting relationships.
U.S. Legal Support has always had an unwavering passion for excellence. Initially focused solely on court reporting services, the company has continued to expand its capabilities in response to the growing needs of its clients. This expansion resulted in dozens of strategic acquisitions and the recent merger of two pioneering trial services organizations, TrialEx and DecisionQuest, to form TrialQuest. With the launch of TrialQuest, U.S. Legal Support broadened its portfolio to offer a comprehensive approach to litigation support through strategic trial consulting, multi-media trial graphics, and trial presentation services, all of which help trial teams navigate the complexities of litigation and gain a winning edge.
Presently, U.S. Legal Support delivers a full range of court reporting solutions, record retrieval, interpreting and translation services, trial services, and transcription services. With a track record of delivering accurate, timely, and reliable service, U.S. Legal Support has established itself as the go- to partner for law firms, corporate legal departments, and insurance companies across the United States.

Leveraging Technology for Enhanced Client Service and Experience
As an organization, U.S. Legal Support is forward thinking, always looking for new ways to help its clients. When prompted about the vision for growth at U.S. Legal Support, Jimmie emphasized the pivotal role of technology.
While Jimime does not believe that technology will replace the necessity of the individual, he does believe that technology will shape the future of work – from processes to tools, technology will continue to enable
U.S. Legal Support to help its clients drive toward better and more consistent outcomes. The executive team is fully aligned with this vision, recognizing the importance of leveraging technology to ensure consistent and timely delivery of services to clients.
Doing more with less is an adage that has withstood the test of time. But U.S. Legal Support also wants to do more with more, and technology is helping them achieve that outcome.
Navigating the Challenges of the Financial Crisis
“The ‘financial crisis’ was an event that was a very new challenge to most, if not all, in the financial industry. We were navigating on the fly to situations and events no one in my leadership team had ever experienced,” said Jimmie.
After the turbulence of the 2002 Media/Telecom bubble, Jimmie’s approach to making strategic decisions changed. He adopted a mentality that went against conventional wisdom, realizing that in unstable situations, quick adaptation was essential. This change in viewpoint made it possible to prioritize decisive action over perfection and to make fast decisions based on reason, especially during times of extreme crisis.
Although data and statistics remained important, he came to understand the need to take calculated chances and follow his gut. The pressure and time- sensitive nature of the situation forced him to make quick decisions without the luxury of time to fully evaluate large sums of data. The experience set a new benchmark for him as it relates to speed to execution, capacity, and what is possible.
Lessons from Growth and Acquisition
“I feel like I’m on a constant path to learning, in both theory and practice, in the art of management and leadership,” Jimmie shared.
In Jimmie’s previous role at a smaller organization, that ability to be flexible and pivot fast was immensely refreshing, but there were significant issues in establishing structure in a rapidly developing firm. Now that he works for a mid-sized organization, he believes he can balance the need to move swiftly with the need for structure to ensure consistency and success at scale.
Every organization naturally evolves from small to medium to large, yet these evolutions never follow the same path. You must continuously challenge yourself and your staff to see things as they should be, rather than how you have viewed them in the past.
Enduring Impact of Critical Thinkers
A degree in Political Science can be an excellent foundation for a leadership role. Jimmie borrows wisdom and ideas from past philosophers, theologians, and political theorists to help shape his strategic initiatives, plan for the future, and tackle challenges.
By studying the works of Plato, Socrates, Thomas Aquinas, Machiavelli, Nietzsche, Marx, Engels, Hobbes, and Freud, one can gain valuable insights into decision making, game theory, cause and effect, and the nuances of navigating various environments.
While acknowledging that he may be biased, he firmly believes that these critical thinkers have made a lasting impact on humanity. Although he may not have agreed with all their thoughts and ideas, he recognizes their significance. These great thinkers focused on the individuality of human thought and the complex narratives that surround the decision-making process. Their ideas continue to be relevant and hotly debated hundreds, if not thousands, of years later.
As a CEO, how do you navigate the challenges of leading a company while also fulfilling your roles as a husband and father?
“I wish I had the answer,” laughed Jimmie.
Jimmie believes that being present in every situation is crucial, regardless of where you are. He admits that he has learned this lesson the hard way, after a long time of struggling to balance his work and personal life. In his role as CEO, Jimmie often finds himself working more hours than he spends at home, making it all the more important for him to be fully present when he IS with his family.
Jimmie recognizes that the work-from- home dynamic has become common in many organizations and that while beneficial in many ways, it can easily blur the line between work and personal life. He says it’s essential to be intentional about separating the two. Admitting he’s a constant work in progress, Jimmie knows that nothing is more important than his family and being present for them is his top priority.
