To honor the victims of the shooting in Allen, he has directed that the US flag be flown at half-staff on all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all federal government vessels until sunset on May 11.
According to CNN, Biden made the decision after a shooting at a shopping mall in Allen killed eight people and injured at least seven more. The shooting at Allen Premium Outlets was attended to by Allen authorities. An Allen Police Department officer who was at the mall on an unrelated call, according to the police, was responsible for the gunman’s death. The shooter, according to the investigation, was working alone.
“As a characteristic of regard for the casualties of the silly demonstrations of brutality executed on May 6, 2023, in Allen, Texas, by the power vested in me as Leader of the US by the Constitution and the laws of the US of America, I thusly request that the banner of the US will be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon every public structure and grounds, at every base and maritime stations, and on all maritime vessels of the National Government in the Locale of Columbia and all through the US and its Domains and assets until nightfall, May 11, 2023,” US President Joe Biden said in the decree delivered by the White House.
He stated that all US embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities, naval vessels, and stations, shall fly the flag at half-staff for the same duration.
